Proceedings of the Second Annual General Body Meeting
(AGBM)
The second AGBM of Indian meat Science Association was held on 29.07.06 at 9.30 a.m. during IMSACON – II at the Conference Hall, Madras Veterinary College, Chennai. Dr. J Abraham, Patron, IMSA and a senior member of the Association, acted as convener of the AGBM to conduct the meeting. In his opening remarks he congratulated the members and in particular Dr. S. Suresh Kumar, Dr. A. Kalaikannan and Dr. P.K. Mandal for their effort in preparing and launching of the Association website ( www.imsa.in). He appealed to the members to act in unison for the expansion of the Association activities so that it can play a responsible role in the advancement of meat science and technology and in the progress of Indian Meat Industry.
The meeting started with the observance of two minutes silence to pray for the peace of the departed soul of Dr. K. T Radhakrishnan, founder Vice President of Indian Meat Science Association and Professor and Head, Dept. of Meat Science and Technology, Madras Veterinary College , who passed away on 05.10.2005 due to massive cardiac arrest.
It was followed by presentation of annual report of the Association by Secretary, IMSA. After presentation of report following agenda items were put forward for discussion and approval or otherwise by the honourable members.
Agenda Items:

Approval of the resolution of XVIth E.C. meeting dated 18.02.06 regarding nomination of Dr. V.Venkataramaanujam as Vice President, IMSA in place of Dr.
K.T. Radhakrishnan.

Ammendment at Clause 7 in the Memorandum of the IMSA regarding expansion of the Executive Committee.

Submission of the audited accounts of IMSA for the years 2003-04, 2004-05, & 2005-06 and submission of budget for the year 2006 –07 by the Treasurer, IMSA for approval of the house.

Formation of new executive committee of
IMSA.

Formation of new editorial board, Journal of meat Science
-
Any other, with the permission of the Chair.
Resolutions
Following resolutions were passed unanimously after proper deliberations by the members.

Resolution of XVIth E.C. meeting dated 18.02.06 regarding nomination of Dr. V.Venkataramaanujam as Vice President, IMSA in place of Dr. K.T. Radhakrishnan was approved.

Following ammendment at Clause 7 in the Memorandum of the IMSA regarding expansion of the Executive Committee was approved as – in place of one Vice- President there will be two Vice-Presidents in the E.C. So the total strength of E.C. will be 17 in place of 16.

Dr. P.K. Mandal, Treasurer, IMSA presented the audited accounts of IMSA for the years 2003-04, 2004-05, & 2005-06 which were approved by the house. Details of the accounts will be made available in the IMSA website. He proposed a budget of Rs. 60,000 for the year 2006 –07 in the following heads:
i) Publication of Journal ( two issues) : Rs. 30,000
ii) Stationary & office expenditure etc.: Rs. 10,000
iii) Expenditure for E.C. meeting : Rs. 20,000
The proposed budget was approved by the house.

With the permission of the Chair following agenda items were placed for discussion

Institution of awards for best poster and research paper presentation from IMSACON – III onwards. This was approved by the house.

Waiving of charges for publication of papers in Journal of Meat Science. This was also approved by the GB.

Acceptance and approval of the emblem of IMSA.
Since the present emblem was not placed before the First GB for acceptance it was placed before the present GB for acceptance in its present form or any modifications. After deliberations it was resolved that interested members can suggest the changes and send it to the President / Secretary within one month. The EC was authorized to select the best one and finalize the emblem.
The meeting ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. P.K. Mandal, Treasurer, IMSA.
